The Nitty Gritty
The 20 hour ECE subsidy is offered at Butterfly Preschool for children aged three years and over. A child attending up to 6 hours in any one day can qualify for the 20 hours ECE subsidy.
The optional fee of $1.50 per hour is not a compulsory fee, however it covers the additional costs associated with exceeding education standards under the Early Childhood Education Regulations (2008). This includes all extracurricular activities provided at Butterfly Preschool, such as Playball, Dancing with Miss Jess, termly excursions and special whānau events, teacher ratios exceeding regulatory requirements and printed colour documents of your child’s learning journal.
If parents choose not to pay the optional fee, in no way would their child be excluded from an event or activity. Butterfly is an inclusive preschool with a philosophy believing all children have the right to quality early childhood education.
Income Support
Childcare subsidies are available to qualifying parents and are paid directly to Butterfly Preschool. Your entitlement is determined by your total income. We can supply you with an application form and assist you in its completion. If a subsidy is approved, please remember to notify WINZ of any changing circumstances and long periods of absences (over 3 weeks).
